Gordon the gnome

Step by step pictures and guide to make your own Gordon the Gnome
You will need:-
Wool roving2-3g of the colour of choice (I picked green)
Some roving for the face, and hands (I chose flesh you can use pink or any flesh tone you want I have seen blue gnomes too)
Some roving for hair and some green and purple for a flower
36/38/40 needles I started with a 36
I spread out the green roving I had chosen then I folded over the end to make a triangle
Then I rolled the roving

Felt the ends in
I then started to shape the roving
I continued until the shape was much firmer and changed to a38 needle
I then selected the roving that I wanted to use for his face
And the one for his hair
I then folded the flesh coloured roving into a circle
And then I loosely felted it to my gnome
I then swapped to my 40 needle to finish his face

I then selected a small amount of roving for his nose
I then used a small anount of wool roving in brown for his hair and beard
After adding these I then made 2 balls of flesh roving to make hands
Then add some green and purple to make a flower

I believe in Faries I do I do I do...

As I live in Dumfries there has been a lot around for the last few years as they do up Moat Brae. (The home of author JM Barrie) And everywhere I turn I see fairy Events.
Tomorrow in Dumfries for those local there is Fairy and Pirate Day at Dock Park, where https://www.facebook.com/pages/Susi-Sweet-Pea-the-Fairy/112903365484722 will be telling her fantastic tales, it's At the bandstand. Hmm I wonder if I could get away with pushing through to the front. I hear Susi having been bit at a young age exhibits all sorts of fae characteristics, Well worth popping down early to get a good seat.

I have my wings at the ready for a fun packed day, in the meantime at fairy HQ I am making some more mini winter fairies I will be doing a Gnome tutorial later on and will try to get Gordy the gnome posted tomorrow, Flying away for now, but leaving you all with this cute winter fairy.

Christmas in July

Christmas in July?

Hi there I am going to try actually keeping my blog up to date with what I am making here at fairy hollow HQ.
I have been catching up with my Etsy shop, listing items and starting my Christmas preparations, here is a mini Christmas tree I made the listing link is https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/241606060/mini-felted-3d-christmas-tree?ref=shop_home_active_4
I have even started making some baubles is it too early?

To make your own needle felt Christmas bauble you need:-
Wool roving (colour of your choice I've gone for Green and white)
Felting needle (36,38if you have it)
A felting Matt or pad helps

Step 1
Select your roving I used a piece about 25cm long which I spread out 3-5 cm wide

Step 2
I folded the roving over until I was left with a triangle
Step3
Start to poke this with your 36 needle pushing the corners in so you start to get a rough sphere
Continue to felt until you feel your sphere firm up once it's fairly firm swap to your 38
Once your ball is really firm select your colour to decorate with I chose white which I rolled into stripes which I added in a swirl
You can do many patterns from dots to snowflakes to bells here are some others I have done
