Enjoy Autumn

I was sat last night and I saw lots of Christmas ideas and makes and I'm bad for it myself I've been making Christmas things since July. Yesterday we walked the dogs it was a beautiful autumn day, sunny and warm in fact better than most of our summer days. I was looking to find acorns for a project t and highly disappointed as I didn't find one but what I did see was very few of the trees had actually started to shed their leaves some were starting to get the tinge on them. You know that glorious colour change where they are green, orange through to russet. That's what got me thinking was I so focuses on being organised I was missing all the best parts the lead up through Autumn relishing the changing colours, and what I love the most days like yesterday where it's still warm when your moving around but there's that little nip on a morning.
To celebrate Autumn I'm going to make several Autumn themed makes here's one.
I'm also going to make a spiced squash and sweet potato soup for lunch today yum yum!
Don't forget to look up and enjoy the world we live in so much to be inspired by :)
Bye for now from fairy hollow.

Featured crafter - Spider and Fly

Good evening I'm sat writing the post this evening in my newly repurposed craft room while the other half and his friend remove our laminate flooring any ways enough about me.

Our featured crafter this week is the lovely Spider and fly.
Who makes specialised baby and toddler clothing, she's looking into expanding into bigger sizes for older children too. What started it all off was having a hard time finding clothes with a bigger bum (until recently I never knew that natural nappies/cloth ones are bulkier a friend of our uses them for her wee girl). With most shop bought clothes not lasting as long due to the bigger bum :(
Having always enjoyed making things and wanting to craft, Rachael started making the circle bum trousers. Thinking there'd never be a better time she started her business and got stuck in. Although she did think she'd have loads of time (her son used to have 2 long naps what a lucky lady😊) now she has an active and busy todler but there's nothing much that beats seeing children wearing the clothes she's made. Her favorite being the dinosaur dress, the reason behind that is "- I didn't like dresses when I was a girl but I loved dinosaurs - so I think I would have been convinced to wear one"

It is fab isn't it ?
The back of the fab circle bum trousers
And the front of another pair
And I couldn't miss this with the toadstools as you know I'm partial too them

Craft room and decorating

The last few days have been very busy at fairy hollow HQ as we've been doing some decorating.
We decided a few weeks ago that we would turn the spare room into some crafty space for me, as I keep taking over the dining table and every other availiable space. Well after deciding that we also decided it'd make more sense if it was the bigger room (don't I just have the best other half ever). So on Sunday every thing got piled into the bigger bedroom and other half got cracking painting it's a lovely aubergine colour on one wall magnolia on the others. I spent yesterday moving the clothes into the cupboards while other half painted the living room (yep I know what a gem he is) we will have a feature wall that's a dark chocolate brown colour it's really rich and actually makes the room look bigger.
So today I'm putting everything away in my craft room (other half insists its a play room makes me sound like a wee kid hehe) once I've done that i am going to sit and craft to my hearts content there's even a sofa in there for doggies to sit on and it will be ideal when we have folk to stay over :) so here's one of my progress shots if my bedroom after 1 coat of paint I can't wait to make and get some new accessories and decorations to put up 1st on the list is curtains that match. Once I get it finished I will pop up some pictures I can't wait :)

Featured crafter - Little Su's Bowtique

Is run by busy mum of three Amy in Cambridgeshire. Her three beautiful children are Max, Henry and especially Lyla-Su inspired her business.  Realising she spent a lot of money and time searching for  bows for Lyla-Su and sometimes unable to find the unique styles she wanted, someone suggested she should have a go herself, after a lot of researching  how to make them and few practice go's and it all took off from there.
A very busy lady starting her website in July, and then a Brand Enthusiasts search in August. Where she was inundated with entries and she has narrowed it down to 6 little girls (& their mummies) as well as her beautiful Little Su who all work really hard to promote her brand. She makes everything from ribbon bows to felt flowers - glitter and leather bows and all available in all sizes for child and mama and loves  doing bespoke orders, expecially for christenings weddings as, She loves to make baby look unique and give their day that extra wow factor. An all round talented and very helpful lady who gets excellent feedback from her customers (including encorageing her to show off her lovely makes)
Her favourite makes are the felt flower crowns, the floral leather and of course the  Glitter Bows and not forgetting the adorable daisy chain crowns
And I have to say she has some amazingly cute wee models too

Penguins, Robins and other baubles

On Saturday I went to Annan where a friendship day was being hosted. As I knew it was for adults with additional support needs I thought of what we could make that wouldn't take too long and that we could all still sit around and chat while doing.
So I decided on polystyrene baubles that we could cover with wool roving and felt I took lots of different colours of roving and made up 2 samples.
A penguin and  a robin, it was really fun to share my crafting skills with others and I especially enjoyed hearing the ideas of what baubles were being made we had one purple one a few penguins, a cat a dog and lots of fun.
I hope I can take part in events like this again and I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for pictures of the event.
Here's some of the baubles

Featured Crafter - Alicry Trinkets

Back in 2013 when her husband was away with his RAF job, busy Mum to four and a Granny too, Buffy started off with a box of beads and some wire looking for something different to do. Having previously done card crafting and cross stitch yep she's a lady of many talents. Having shown friends and family, and getting asking more and more for different things, she decided in January to take the plunge and open for business. Enjoying the design process sketching out new designs and learning new techniques an ever evolving style keeping her makes fresh, unique and on trend. Even dreaming in new designs, she revels in sourcing new beads and materials garnering inspiration from the shine and glamour.
She makes jewellery, key rings and bag charms mostly but also make boxes and cards occasionally, recently started pyrography and polymer clay and is looking forward to playing with that more. It is very important to Buffy to keep her designs individual and not to fall in with the crowd but to stand out and keep each piece unique, just like everyone of her customers.  https://www.facebook.com/AlicryTrinkets/photos/a.110697522599966.1073741833.108427662826952/161617484174636/?type=1

The pictures included are a clay tortoise necklace I made for my niece, an icy bracelet I made but that one is more about the picture, I've started experimenting with different ways of presentation and example of one of my beaded bracelets.

So we already in September

So as we are already in September some of my favorite things are around art this time of year as the nights get longer, you can't beat snuggling up with a good book. Bonfires, hot dogs and toffee apples.
And best of all my favorite thing the run up to Christmas I love it spending time with family playing board Games on Christmas Eve while eating homemade Sausage rolls and mince pies washed down with mulled wine.(this usually doesn't run quite like this some one always cheats at monopoly it's such a cut throat game there's always a fall out someone in a huff just in time for bed)  jealous yet?
I'm one of those that goes over the top with the decorations if the house doesn't look like santas grotto it's just not festive enough so this week I shall be looking  for inspiration for festive makes I have already done a few beautiful winter fairies and tree gnomes I'm thinking some Santa hats and lots of other festive goodies.
What's your favorite autumn thing? I shall leave you with one of my winter fairies as you mull it over...
